Michael (Mike) was the last son of John Pawlirzyn (1881 - 1964) and Josephine (Djubek) Pawlirzyn (1881 - 1967), immigrant parents from Poland (Ukraine) who came through Ellis Island in 1906 and made their home in the Bronx, New York. He was their eight child.
Mike was in the US Navy during WWII and joined at age 16, saying he was older. His ship was the SS Virginia and he married (1951) Shirley Ann Sutton (1928 - 1991) and they had three children:
Michael Joseph Jr (b. 1952),
William Charles Sr (b. 1957), and
Barbara Ann (Pawlirzyn) Voelke (b. 1961).
He also has four grand children:
Colleen Vrginia Pawlirzyn, (b. 1979)(twin),
Chritine Elizabeth Pawlirzyn (b. 1979)(twin),
William Charles Pawlirayn Jr (b. 1985), and
Kristen Noelle Voelkel (b. 1992)
Twins ran in the family as Mike had a twin sister (Josephine (1925 - 1925) who was stillborn. There are several other sets of twins among his nieces and nephews.

He married Shirley around 1951 and divorced over 20 years later, remaining single the rest of his life. He died of heart failure while living with his sister, Julie White in Hicksville.
