Oliver Overstreet Accidentally Killed Thursday

Oliver M. Overstreet, age 73, was killed accidentally at his farm home, Thursday, when a falling branch of a tree struck him. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Lizton Christian Church, in charge of the Rev. Kenneth Stewart, minister of Indianapolis, and the Rev. Mr. Barger of the Lizton church, with burial in the Lizton cemetery.

Mr. Overstreet had cut down a dead tree on his farm and stepped aside to watch it fall, when it crashed into a standing tree, knocking off a heavy branch. As the branch fell to the ground, it struck Mr. Overstreet on the head.

He was the youngest of twelve children born to Aaron and Catherine Elder Overstreet, on the farm where he died. He was married to Anita Hale of Lizton, February 20, 1898. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Overstreet were the parents of seven children, four of whom are living.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Anita Overstreet, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Garriott, Indianapolis; and three sons, Bernard L., and Roger W., of Indianapolis and Bruce of Danville, Illinois, a brother, Lee Overstreet; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
