from the Republican for April 10, 1924:

Lizton - Susan May Overstreet, daughter of Aaron and Catherine Overstreet, was born in Hendricks county, Ind., Oct. 26, 1853. She united with the Christian church at Lizton during the ministry of Bro. Canfield when she was a girl. She resided with her parents in and around Lizton until her marriage to Robert Emmett Kennedy, Oct. 10, 1871. Since that time, her life has been spent on the farm three miles south of Lizton where the family was reared and the last seventeen years in Lizton when she passed to the Great Beyond at 1 p.m., Monday, March 31, 1924, aged 70 years, 5 months and 5 days. To this union were born three children, Elmer Ward, Robert Otis, and Vangie Gray.

She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, never tiring in her home duties although always very frail. Her health prevented her from entering into community affairs or church work. She always enjoyed going when her health would permit but was happiest when she could entertain her family, relatives and friends in her own home.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, three children, four grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church at 2 p.m., Wednesday. Rev. W. H. Book of Columbus officiating with burial at K. of P. cemetery.
