Mrs. Emma Hawkins Bell, 86, died August 2, 1989 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele, Mo.

Born September 11, 1902 at Steele, she was the daughter of the late Will Cotner and Lillie Walls Cotner.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Steele, she was a mother, a homemaker, and a long time resident of the Oak Ridge Community.

She was married to Emy E. Hawkins, a Veteran of World War I, who served in the U.S. Army in 1918. He preceded her in death January 17, 1945. She later married Colie Bell, who also preceded her in death. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She leaves two sons and their wives; Alvin and Johnnie Hawkins and Earl and Pauline Hawkins, all of Steele; a daughter and her husband, Jannetta and Clifford J. Pierce of Holly, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Opal Bell Logan, of Paris, Tenn.; two sisters: Mrs. Bessie Howell and Mrs. Marie Gooch, both of Wyatt, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 1989, at 2:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele, with Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. James F. McCrary officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, with John W. German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Clarence Poteet, Reginald Watkins, Bill Lewis, Johnnie Carter, Jack Brooks and Bud Alford
