Alvin A. Hawkins, 71, of Steele, died Sept. 22, 1993 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Born Jan. 10, 1922 in Blytheville, he was the son of Emy and Emma Cotner Hawkins. A Methodist, he was a member of Oddfellow Lodge 859 and a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Johnnie Savage Hawkins of Steele; Two sons, Jim Hawkins of Memphis and Barry Hawkins of Harrisonville, Mo.; A daughter, Mrs. Teresa Ann Crosser of Marino Valley, Calif.; A brother, Earl Hawkins of Steele; Seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services were Sept 26 at 2 p.m. at John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, the Rev. Tom Zych officiating, with burial in Mitchell's Number Eight Cemetery near Cooter.
