Marion Dixon Peebles was the daughter of John Douglas Peebles and Rachel Marion (Morgan) Peebles. She was christened 10 January 1892 in the First Methodist Church of Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland. Marion grew up in Lonaconing and lived most of her younger years on Church Hill. Marion graduated Central High School, Lonaconing with 8 other students in 1905.
She used to play for the silent movies and had gone to the Peabody Music Institute, but became homesick, so returned to home in Lonaconing.
She married 11 September 1911 to Earl Barnhardt Steiding.
Earl was the son of John Ernst Steiding and Elizabeth McLaughlin Hartley.
Their house in Midland, Allegany County, Md. was always a place for all the relatives to gather; as had her parent's house on Church Street in Lonaconing had been. Marion loved playing the piano, baking and being a Grandmother to all her beloved Grandchildren.
Marion was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Midland.
After, her boys were grown, she loved to travel mostly by train to Roanoke, Va. to visit relatives. She did go to Nebraska by train.
Marion was the 10th child in her family and she had many nieces that were about her same age.
Marion & Earl had 4 sons:
John Batrie Steiding, Earl Price Steiding, Frederick Dean Steiding and Richard Marsh Dean Steiding.
At the time of her death, Marion had four daughter in laws:
Virginia (Mason) Steiding, Sara Elnora (Humbertson) Steiding, Georgie (Dixon) Steiding, and Jane (Miller) Steiding.
When she passed away she had fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Marion is buried beside her husband Earl in the R.D.Dean Memorial I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, Mineral County, West Virginia.
