Born on June 15, 1893, on the Cain Homestead in the Town of Russell, Sheboygan County, he was a son of John and Anna Smith Cain. He married Martha Farrell on Nov. 18, 1922, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Random Lake. The couple lived on the family homestead. His wife preced ed him in death in December 1954.
On Feb. 13, 1958, he married Charlotte Devroy of the Town of Russell at St. Anne's Church.
Mr. Cain was a member of St. Anne's Church, Holy Name Society, St. Anna branch of Catholic Knights, having been honored for 50 years membership about five years ago, Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, St. Anna Sportsmen's Club and Winooski Bowmen Club. He was a past director of the Elkhart Lake Equity Association and former Elkhart Lake Canning Co. and long-time member of the former Elkhart Lake Municipal Band prior to becoming a member of the Kiel Municipal Band.
Survivors include his widow, two daughters. Mrs. Gene Stever, Green Bay, and Mrs. Alfred Winkel. Kiel; four sons, John of Elkhart Lake, Harold, Oshkosh, Patrick Jr., Villa Park, Ill., and Francis, Green Bay; one step-son, William Devrov. Milwaukee; 19 grandchildren and four sisters, Miss Jennie Cain and Mrs. Lillian Harkins, both of Portage, and Mrs. Edward Schmidt and Mrs Valaria Premo, both of Wauwatosa.
A son preceded him m death.
Brief rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Mass will be said at 10 a.m., at St. Anne's Church, Rev. Benedict Marx officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery
