" Clifford Earl Area, 87, St. George, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept 8, 1905 in Westmoreland.

Mr. Area had worked for Union Pacific Railroad Company for more than 43 years and for many years also farmed in the St. George area. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, VFW Post No. 1786, Wamego Lodge No. 75, AF and AM Shrine and Masonic Temple of Topeka. During WWII he served in the Army and was a part of the D-Day invasion force.

He married Mildred M. Piper in Jan 1, 1954 in Manahattan...Other survivors include four sisters: Mabel Shaw, St. George, Lucille Wilmer, Parmler, Alaska, Dorothy Lamb, St. George, and June Area, Blytheville, Ark. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Area and Merle Area.
