WAMEGO - Arthur E Area, 91, Route 1, St. George, died here Sunday in a rest home where he had been since June 9, 1970.
He was born June 19,1882, at Westmoreland, the son of George Area and Mary Ellen Cummins Area, and spent most of his life in the St. George community. He was a member of the Christian Church. He was a carpenter.
He was married to the former Nannie Walker. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Schwab, and by a son, Orville Area.
Besides Mrs. Area, survivors include three sons, Clifford Area and Merle Area, both of St. George, and Claude Area, Soldier; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Shaw and Mrs. Dorothy Lamb, both of St. George, Mrs. Lucille Wimmer, Wichita, and June Area, Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Jesse Area, Oberlin, Arch Area, Wamego and Doris Area, Salina; 25 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2pm. Wednesday at Cowan-Edwards-yorgensen Funeral home, Manhattan. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery.
