Born June 26, 1922, in Golden Pond, Ky., to William and Myrtle Bratton Ahart, he married Ava N. Scott on Feb. 9, 1940, in Cadiz, Ky. She died Dec. 15, 1988.
One son, Scot, one brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Gary of Washington and Thomas D. of East Peoria; two brothers, John of Princeton, Ky., and Conley of Tremont; three sisters, Edna Vinson and Bessie Womack, both of East Peoria, and Dorothy Fennell of Peoria Heights; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 36 years, retiring in 1982 as an inspector in the gear lab. He also worked as a salesman for the Dick Herm Firm at the Peoria Union Stock Yards for 18 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Hilton Masonic Lodge 1143, AF&AM, in East Peoria.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
