Washington, IL - Dorothy "Dean" Fennell, 80, of Washington passed away at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at her home.

She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Golden Pond, Ky., to William M. and Myrtle (Bratton) Ahart. They preceded her in death.

She was also preceded by two brothers; two sisters; two grandsons; and three nephews.

Surviving are four children, Sharion Kay (Tom) Webster of Terre Haute, Ind., Alan R. (Carol) Kilgore of Chestnut, Carla (Mark) Koenig of Metamora, and Karen Fennell of Chesterfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; six grand dawgs; two brothers, the Rev. John (Murl) Ahart of Cadiz, Ky. and Conley (Dixie) Ahart of Tremont; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dean was an avid Cubs fan. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and cross stitch.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.

Graveside services will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Golden Pond, Ky., with her brother, the Rev. John Ahart, officiating.
