Byrd, Alice Marie Silcox-70 of Rt. 1, Oneida, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb., 4, 1981 at the Scott Co. Hospital. She was a member of the Pentecost Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Polete Silcox and her mother, Mary Boshears Silcox; one son Wayne Byrd; four sisters, Rena Richardson, Ettie Richardson, Pernie Burress and Bertha Mae Silcox; five brothers: Clyde, Jake, John, Jim and Roscoe Silcox; one grandson, David Wayne Babb; one great granddaughter, Shanda Kay Chambers and one great grandson, Tracy Scott Troyer. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Byrd of Rt. 1, Oneida; six daughters: Mrs. Robert Babb (Lola) of Rt. 2, Oneida; Geraldine Kidd of Rt. 1, Oneida; Barbara Faye McCarroll and Lonas Morgan, both of Rt. 2, Oneida; Mrs. Robert Mills (Flonnie Rosetta) of Rt. 1, Pioneer, and Lenorse Nakall or Orlando, Fla.; three sons: Lewis Byrd of Huntsville; Lawrence Byrd, Jr., of Rt. 1, Oneida, and R.V. Byrd of Fort Wayne Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Byrd (Almae) of Pioneer; three brothers: Isaac, Oscar & Polete Silcox, all of Pioneer. 33 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and many other relatives survive also. Funeral were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 from the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Obis Byrd and Bro. Chuck Duncan officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Obis Byrd, Bro. Chuck Duncan and the Duncan Family sang. Pallbearers were Bruce Babb, Michael Byrd, Roy Byrd, Dean Chambers, Richard Chambers and George Evans. West Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
