Lola was preceded in death by several family members including her mother, Alice Silcox Byrd; father, Lawrence Byrd; brothers, Lewis Byrd, R.V. Byrd and Wayne Byrd; sisters, Geraldine Kidd, Flonnie Mills, and Lonas Smith. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, David Wayne Babb; first husband, Kenneth Goodman; son-in-law, Carl Sexton, and many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Sue Sexton, and Brenda Lue Gossage and husband Jim Gossage; sons , Phillip Anthony Goodman and wife Bonnie, Bruce Babb and Friend Melissa Pemberton; grandchildren, Jake Terry, Sean Terry, Phillip Goodman, Jr. and Daniel Babb; great grandchildren, Brandy Babb, Carson Babb, Trey Terry, Darby Terry, Jacob Terry, Joshua Terry, Miranda Goodman, Teanna Goodman, Eleana Goodman and Joseph Goodman. She is also survived by sisters, Faye McCarol, Hannah Lynn Ladines and husband Joe; brother, Lawrence Byrd, Jr. and wife Marylyn; 2nd husband Robert H. Babb, and many other relatives and friends.
Lola worked for many years at several different places in the area and ran several restaurants in the area, including the Crystal Café on Main Street and the Scott Restaurant. She owned and helped operate several gas stations in the area. After retiring she made crochet items as a pastime—including crocheted dolls of which many people have gotten from her.
Lola will be truly missed by her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. But she has gone to her reward into the loving arms of Jesus.
Special thanks to the Quality Nursing Staff that have helped her over the years, including Heather, Bridgett, Tiny and all the others that have helped her. Also thanks to Dr. Tim Smith for all he has done to treat and help her.
Friends may visit with the Babb family on Wednesday evening, December 4, 2013, from 6:00 until time of funeral service at 8:00 in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home of Oneida, with Bro. Dilman Stanley and Bro. J. C. Reynolds officiating. Music will be provided by Charlie King.
Interment will be in the Fairview Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
