Lonas Lee Byrd Morgan Smith, 62, of Oneida, passed away March 21, 2009, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Born July 21, 1946, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Lawrence Byrd; great-grandson, Austin Stanley; brothers: Lewis, Wayne, and R.V. Byrd; father-in-law, Ben Smith; and sister-and brother-in-law, Wanda Smith and Morgan Mills. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Smith of Oneida; one son, Dean Morgan and wife, Kim; one daughter, Lowanna Sexton and husband, Jerry; step-children: Teresa Smith, and Gary and Shelia Smith; mother-in-law, Beatrice Smith; brothers and sisters: Lynn and Joe Ladines, Geraldine Kidd, Flonnie Mills, Faye McCarroll, Lola Babb, and Jr. and Marilyn Byrd; in-laws: Ronald and Dawn Smith, Bill and Lois Smith, and Beulah Mills; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, special nieces: Amy Byrd and Madeline Huft, and several other nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Phillips officiating. Interment was to have followed at Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery.
