Edith Irene Caskey, 82, of Butler, MO., died Dec. 19,1994 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. The funeral was held Dec. 21 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, with Rev. Othal Hodson officiating, and Rev. Don Stephens assisting. The family suggests contribution to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society or charity of choice. Mrs. Caskey was born Oct. 1, 1912 to Ira Oliver and Anna Lucille Rainey Anderson in Prescott, Kan. One of 11 children, she spent part of her childhood in rural Prescott, Kan., before moving to Hume, MO., in the 1920s. On Oct. 10, 1931 she married James Alfred Caskey, and to this union five children were born. Because of husband employment at Peabody Coal Company, she moved to Freeberg, Ill., in 1957; to Forsythe, Mont., in 1970; and to Butler in 1974. She was a member of the Foster Chapter 445 Order of Eastern Star, and the First Baptist Church of Butler. She leaves her husband of the home; a daughter Velma May and husband Edward T.C., of Lansing, Kan.; four sons, Mayor J. Robert Caskey and wife, Alice, of Windsor, MO., Leon Caskey and wife, Shirley, of Clinton, MO., Sen. Harold L. Caskey and wife, Kay, of Butler, and Judge Ray Lee Caskey and wife, Jeri Leigh, of Alton, Mo.; two brothers, Charles Anderson of Columbia, MO., and Kenneth Anderson and wife, Frances, of Drexel, MO.; two sisters, Betty Barker of Fort Scott, Kan., and Virginia Finley of Hume, MO.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Jesse "Bus", and Merle; two infant brothers; and a sister Ruby Billingsley.
