Charles Grant Anderson, 80, of Columbia died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Cole officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born May 7, 1917, in Prescott, Kan., to Ira Oliver and Anna Louise Raney Anderson.

He married Genevieve Cole on Oct. 20, 1972, in Nevada and she preceded him in death.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Sacred Heath Catholic Church. He had been a machine mechanic at Deem's Farm Equipment.

Survivors include four step-sons, Edwin Cole and Richard Cole, both of Columbia, Charles Cole of Stockton, Kan., and Lawrence Cole of Conway, Ark.; six step-daughters, Frances Minor of Columbia, Mary Dultmeier of Topeka, Kan.,
Theresa O'Bier of Taylor, Texas, Loretta Kaminsk of Highlands, Texas, Catherine Gregory of Dover, Del., and Anna Belle Alexander of Kansas City; a brother,
Kenneth Anderson of Drexel; two sisters, Virginia Finley of Hume and Betty Ruth Barker of Fort Scott, Kan.; 27 stepgrandchildren; and 32 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
