Fred Winkel, 85 of Sheboygan, a former resident of Town Schleswig, died at his home here Wednesday morning.
A native of Town Herman, Mr. Winkel was born Oct 11, 1864 the son of Mr & Mrs Gottfried Winkel. On Nov 1, 1889 he was married to Miss Emilie Feldt.
The couple lived near Howards Grove for 3 years, moved to Sheboygan for a year, and then settled on a farm in Town Schleswig. After 54 years on the farm, Mr. Winkel came to Sheboygan to spend the past three years at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr & Mrs William Witte.
He is survived by 4 daughters Mrs William (Linda) Witte; Mrs Alvin (Hattie ) Salzman, Louis Corners; Mrs Raymond (Meta) Beckmann,Kiel; Mrs Walter (Viola) Klemme, Kiel; two sons; Hugo Winkel,of School Hill; Arno Winkel of Elgin, Illinois, 16 grandchildren, 11 great Grandchildren, a brother Louis Winkel.
