Adolph Henry Gehle, son of Carl and Anna Baden Gehle, was born on January 3, 1895, at Byron, Nebraska, and passed away at the Thayer County Memorial Hospital at Hebron, Nebraska, on December 23, 1980, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 20 days.

He was baptized on January 13, 1895, in St. Peters Lutheran Church of Byron, Nebraska by Pastor Hertel. Following instructions in God's saving truth he was confirmed on April 4, 1909, at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Byron, Nebraska by Pastor Schulz.

He was united in marriage to Lenora Ahrens on June 14, 1924, at Hanover, Kansas, and to this union six children were born, Verleen, Delain, Lillias, Larriet, Myron and Shirley.

He lived in Thayer County all of his life, where he was engaged in farming until their retirement in 1961, after which time they moved to Chester, Nebraska. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Chester, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lenora; two brothers, Carl and Ernest; and three grandchildren, Vicki, Jody and Danny Davenport.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his children, Mrs. Verleen Vorderstrasse and her husband Clarence of Hebron, Nebraska; Delain Gehle and his wife Marjorie of Centerville, South Dakota; Mrs. Lillias Davenport and her husband Bob of Overton, Nebraska; Mrs. Larriet Davenport and her husband A.J. of Overton, Nebraska; Myron Gehle and his wife Jean of Chester, Nebraska; and Mrs. Shirley Kuhlmann and her husband Karis of Chester, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Koester and Mrs. Adelia Frum of Deshler, Nebraska; 21 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church of Chester, Nebraska, on Friday, December 26, 1980, at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Donald Porter. Interment was in Chester Cemetery.
