Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Immanuel Free Lutheran Church, rural Centerville, SD. Delain Dale Gehle was born April 30, 1931 near Deshler, NE to Adolph and Lenora (Ahrens) Gehle. He was raised on the family farm near Chester NE and attended rural schools in the Chester area. He was confirmed at the St Paul Lutheran Church near Stoddard NE. As a teenager, he moved to South Dakota where he worked on farms and later worked for the railroad and served in the National Guard. On September 20, 1957, he married Marjorie Ann Jensen. Together they farmed near Centerville where they raised their four children.

He enjoyed farming and hard work. He always stayed busy farming, custom combining, baling and crop spraying. If there was a slow time, he would find work to do no matter what the weather was. His motto was: “It was never to windy to pick rock or chop wood.” Delain and Marjorie moved into Centerville in 1996 but he remained busy as a crop insurance adjuster for several years. Delain became a resident of the Centerville Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2013 where he resided until his death.

Delain is survived by three sons, Leon Gehle of Lexington, NE, Larry (Wendy) Gehle of Sioux Falls, and Roger Gehle of Ferndale, MI; daughter, Jackie (Ray) Wilcox of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren, Aaron Gehle, Preston (Kristi) Gehle, Trevor Bryan, Kaitlyn (Michael) Woltemath, Jeremy Wilcox, Alison Wilcox, Alyssa Gehle, Mariah Gehle and Dalton Gehle; six great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kennidy, Jaxon, Wyatt, Sydney, and Logan; and two sisters, Verleen Vorderstrasse and Shirley (Karis) Kuhlmann; his brother, Jim (Connie) Gehle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, who passed away in 2013, his parents, and two sisters.
