ERNEST AUGUST GEHLE
Ernest August Gehle, son of Carl Gehle and his wife, Anna nee Baden, was born on March 6, 1897, near Byron, Nebr. In early infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Byron. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Byron on April 9, 1911.
The deceased spent most of nis life around the Deshler area until 1951. He then went to Topeka, Ks., and established himself in construction work. He lived there until the time of his death.
He died of a probable heart attack on Sunday morning, Aug. 7, 1960, at the age of 63 years, five months, and one day.
Mr. Gehle had an accident April 11, I960, colliding with a tractor on his way back to Topeka. Ernest had been around Deshler visiting relatives since this accident. He was not able to do any work.
He leaves his mother, Anna Kellner of Deshler; two brothers, Carl of Superior, and Adolph of Chester; two half sisters, Mrs. Paul (Elsie) Koester of Deshler and Mrs. Arthur (Adalia) Frum of Hazlet, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; ten nieces and nephews; two aged uncles, Wm Baden of Byron and August Baden of Long Beach, Calif. (who was his sponsor); and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Deshler, with the Rev. Adolph Lillich, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Byron, officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery near Byron. Pallbearers were: Melvin Gehle, Louis Peters, Jim Gehle, Marvin Koester, Martin Wonderling, and Clarence Vorderstrasse.
