Jay Junior Londo was born on August 15, 1933 at 3:00 a.m. in Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the son of Bert Londo & Delores Irene Rawn Londo . He was one of seven children who grew to adulthood. Since Grandma didn't have a name chosen and couldn't give the nurse a name, the nurse took it upon her self to fill out the birth certificate with the name, Junior Londo. That was the name he went through school with & it was his name when he joined the Navy. He was called Jay all of his life. After he married & when his son was nine months old, he went to a notary and had his name changed to Jay Junior Londo. Later in life, all of his social security was sent to him under the name Jay B. Londo.

Jay grew up in Grand Rapids and lived with his family on Grant Street. His father worked as a Machinist on the Pennsylvania railroad. His mother was a homemaker. He attended Franklin Elementary School & later he attended South High School.

Prior to his marriage, he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on July 13, 1951.

On August 4, 1956, he married Linda Lou Ketchum Londo, daughter of Oren Jacob Ketchum and Margaret Harriet Thompson. They shared 40 years together before her untimely death on June 16, 1997. To this union were born 3 healthy children, Kathy, Diane, and son Oren. He supported his family by working for many years at Keeler Brass as a plater and owned his home on Burton Street, where he lived for most of his adult life.

My Uncle Jay had a great sense of humor and was a very playful guy. We would always visit his family when we visited Michigan. We always felt welcome at his and Aunt Linda's house.

Uncle Jay passed away the day after Christmas, 2007. He will always be missed. Uncle Jay had three children Kathy, Diane, and Oren, 6 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Bert Londo, Jr of Arlington, Texas and sisters, Lois DeMeester of Comstock Park, Geraldine Homrich and Glenda Adams of Grand Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

The following is the beautiful obituary written by my cousin Kathy. Thank you Kathy for such a beautiful summation of your dad's life.

At the funeral there were military honors rendered by the Sheridan VFW. Also honoring Dad was two of his grandchildren Jay & Valerie singing Brad Paisley's, "When I Get Where I'm Going"
