MISS ELIZABETH SMITH, 79, IS BURIED AT ST. FRANCIS
Funeral services for Miss Elizabeth B. Smith, 79, who died early Tuesday [January 27, 1953] at a Catholic church home in Louisville, were conducted yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Francis of Assisi Church at St. Francis by the Rev. John Talbott Spalding. Interment followed in the church cemetery. A life long resident of this county, she went to Louisville about six months ago because of failing health. Death was due to influenza complicated by heart trouble. Miss Smith was born in the county on November 13, 1873, a daughter of J.T. & Gillie Ann Ball Smith, long deceased. She was a member of the Catholic Church, and for many years was also a member of the St. Francis Altar Society. Two brothers and two sisters survive, P.C. Smith of Long Beach, CA; J.H. Smith and Mrs. Proctor Knott of St. Francis, and Mrs. Regina Cambron of Loretto. There also are 20 nieces and nephews. The remains were taken to Greenwell & Mann Funeral Home at Bardstown, and on Tuesday afternoon they were removed to the home of Miss Smith's brother, J.H. Smith, at St. Francis.
