Odena Desautels, 94, Golden Ager performer

Odena A. (Flebotte) Desautels, 94, of 403 Main St., Indian Orchard, died Saturday at home. She was a retired 20-year shader at the former Hodges Carpet in Indian Orchard. Born in St. Cecile de Milton, Quebec, she lived 90 years in Indian Orchard. She was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church, Indian Orchard, and a member of its Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She was also a member of the Golden Agers, and was the pianist for the Golden Age Choir. She took part in many recitals in this area. She also performed as a Golden Girl in the Golden Age Reviews at Symphony Hall, and took part in accompaniment there also. She was a member of the Indian Orchard Golden Agers, and several area square dance clubs.
Her husband, Paul H. Desautels, died in 1991. She leaves three sons, Raymond P. of Indian Orchard, Robert N. of Ludlow and Paul R. of Chicopee; two daughters, Lillian Corriveau of Wilbraham and Janet Surniak of Springfield; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at Ratell Funeral Home, and in the church, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery, all in Indian Orchard. Calling hours are this afternoon and evening.
