Paul H. Desautels, 92, of 403 Main St., Indian Orchard, Springfield, the founder of Desautels' Trucking, died Monday in Ludlow Hospital. He founded the company in 1923, and it thrived for 20 years. He was later supervisor of the truck fleet for Northeast Fuel Co. for 25 years, and retired in 1966. Born in Indian Orchard, he lived in Ruxton, Quebec, for 20 years before returning to Indian Orchard in 1920.
He was a member of the Indian Orchard Golden Agers and their Square Dance Club, and performed in the "Golden Agers' Revue" at Symphony Hall in Springfield. He was also a communicant of St. Aloysius Church. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Odena A. (Flebotte) Desautels; three sons, Raymond P. of Indian Orchard and Robert N. and Richard P. of Ludlow; two daughters, Lillian Corriveau of Wilbraham and Janet Surniak of Springfield; a brother, Elzear of Granby, Quebec; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be this morning at Ratell Funeral Home and the church, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

The middle son of Paul & Odena (Flebotte) Desautels, Robert "Bob" Norman Desautels passed away at the Wingate Nursing Home of Wilbraham, MA on Jan. 08, 2015. Arrangements will be soon.
