Funeral rites were held Tuesday for Miss Edna O. Anderson, a native of this city who passed away Saturday after a lingering illness.
Edna Olivia Anderson, youngest daughter of John and Anna Greta Anderson (pioneer residents) was born in Alexandria Feb. 20, 1892. She was baptized and confirmed in the Calvary Lutheran church.
Edna was a graduate of the Alexandria high school in 1910 and attended Carleton college for one year, graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1914. She taught school for four years. Following this she completed a post-graduate course at Simmons college in Boston, Mass., and entered into secretarial work in Chicago and Minneapolis until her physical condition compelled her to retire. For the past twenty-three years she made her home in Alexandria.
She passed on Saturday, Feb. 26, and is survived by her brother Carl V. Anderson, sisters Mabel (Mrs. T. A. Erickson) and Alma Anderson.
Her parents, two brothers, Frederick William and John; one sister, Hannah (Mrs. A. Emil Anderson) and a sister, Ida Marie, have preceded her in death.
The funeral services were held at the Calvary Lutheran church, Tuesday, March 1st. Interment was made in the family lot at Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were: High Robards, Rudolph Swore, Herbert Tonneson, A. M. Walby, Dr. Edgar Sather and Edward Flanigan. Dr. O. O. Gustafson conducted the services.
