Funeral services for Mrs. Melonie Hebert Edmond, 102, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Our
Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in St. Leo The Great Catholic
Church Cemetery in Leonville.
Mrs. Edmond, a resident of Opelousas and a native of Leonville, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, April
27, 1998, in Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas. She was a member of the St. Leo Altar
Society.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Wyvos and Mildred Edmond of Opelousas and
Melvin and Leola Edmond of Arnaudville; a daughter-in-law, Rose L. Edmond of Opelouas; three
brothers, Joseph Hebert and Zoder Hebert, both of Opelousas, and J.B. Hebert of Washington;
two sisters, Burl H. Fitzgerald of Lafayette and Clotilde H. Edmond of Leonville; 11
grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Edmond was preceded in death by her husband, Avons Edmond; a daughter, Bernice E. Robin;
three sons, Antoine Nelson Edmond, Doris Edmond and Elvie Edmond; three brothers; and five
sisters.
Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. Thursday
until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
