Frank H. Berger, 84, of Everest, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

He was born on August 4, 1923 in Goff, Kansas, the son of Julius & Anna Schutz Berger. On January 20, 1949 he married Mary Louise Larson in Mercier, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2001.

Frank served with the U.S. Navy during WW II. Following the war he worked as a mechanic for Eddes Motor Company and Foster Ford in Horton, Kansas. He and Mary Louise then moved to Falls City, Nebraska where he worked for the Falls City Truck & Implement Company and then went on to work for the Falls City School District as the school bus superintendent for a number of years.

Frank was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion and the National Rifle Association. Frank also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Survivors include a daughter & her husband, three sons and their wives, five sisters, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Martin, Joe, Carl, Bill and Fritz Berger, three sisters, Barbara Wilhelm, Mary Berger and Anna Berger.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. at the Dishon - Maple - Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 with a Prayer service at 7:00 P.M. The family will greet friends on Tuesday following the Prayer Service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas with burial and Military graveside rites at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the St. Mary's Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.
