Elizabeth M. "Liz" Schuetz, 91, Atchison, Kansas passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Atchison Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Horton, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited Thursday, October 4 at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Visitation will follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Leo's Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born May 15, 1921 in Goff, Kansas, the daughter of Julius and Anna Berger. She attended school in the Goff area.
She and Gerald Schuetz were united in marriage on February 3, 1942, at St. Ann's Church in Hiawatha, Kansas. Mr. Schuetz preceded her in death on June 18, 2004.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of St. Benedict's Church in Atchison. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing for church functions and cooking, and was known for sharing her baked goods.
Survivors are a son Marion and Bonnie Schuetz, Denton, KS, two daughters Cheryl and Bob Hrnchir, Trenton, NE, Jackie and Tom Mitchell, Mequon, WI, one sister Florence Woodard of Deniar, CA, two sisters in law Anna Mae Berger, Glendale, AZ and Mildred Werner, Horton, KS. She also has 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers, Martin, Joe, Carl, Bill, Fritz, Frank, and six sisters, Barb, Anna, Mary, Maggie, Rose and Marian.
