Barbara Mary Wilhelm, 99, of Horton, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at the Horton Community Hospital. She was born September 5, 1905 at Herndon, Kansas, the daughter of Julius and Anna Schuetz Berger.
She married Alphonse J. Wilhelm on April 5, 1926 at Effingham, KS. Her husband preceded her in death as well as 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She worked as a Dietary Aid at the Horton Community Hospital for several years before retirement. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, KS, and a member of the Alter Society at the church. She was avid at crocheting and tatting. Her family remembers her wonderful cooking, especially her breads and pies. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Her faith was a very big part of her life as well as her Rosary.
She is survived by one son, Gilbert Wilhelm, Ferrelview, MO., five daughters, Jeanette Bandel, Wamego, KS, Mary Glissman, Wetmore, KS, Berneice Julius, Sturgis and BelleFourche, SD, Cecilia Kinder, Topeka, KS, Laura Moran, Fort Movhave, AZ. Also one brother, Frank Berger, Everest, KS, and five sisters, Magadline Heinen, Horton, KS, Elizabeth Schuetz, Atchison, KS, Florence Woodard, Denair, CA, Rose Kimmi, Everest, KS, and Marian Whitcraft, Haysville, KS, twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton. Father Marianand Mendem will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Wetmore Cemetery.
