E. H. SHADWELL
Edgar Herschel Shadwell, 89, southwest of Paris died Friday, March 27, at Community Hospital in Moberly where he had been taken that day. He had been in ill health for some time.
He was born in Middleton, Missouri, in Montgomery County, the son of the late Mary Ellen Straube and George Washington Shadwell. He was married to the former Martha Elizabeth McGinis, who died in November 1962.
Mr. Shadwell taught in the rural schools 25 years and for the past 50 years farmed and raised strawberries on the farm southwest of Paris. After the death of his wife, he made his home with a son, Joe.
Survivors include ten children, Mrs. Bert Atterberry, Edward, John and Joe Shadwell, all of Paris, Mrs Marvin Nordlund of Mexico, Mrs. Elmer Crim, Mrs. Faye Johnson, Mrs. Bob Shuck, Mrs. Perry Long, Mrs. J. R. Chapman, all of Hannibal; one sister, Mrs. J. H. Snyder of Paris; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at Agnew Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Jones of Sturgeon, officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
