Louie Freeland died at his farm home southeast of Loup City on Friday morning. He was born February 16, 1894, near Palmer to Fred and Minnie Glause Freeland.
After receiving his formal education in schools near Palmer, he was associated with his father in farming until his induction into the service during World War I. Following discharge he farmed near Meadow Grove.
On June 20, 1923 he married Gladys Verplank at Stanton. They continued to farm near Meadow Grove until 1925. They farmed near Palmer until 1967, when they moved to the farm southeast of Loup City.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two sons, Harold and Rolland, both at home; ten daughters, Mrs. Euveda Kozak, Mrs. Norman (Lois) Petersen, Mrs. Alfred (Faye) Lubken, Mrs. Ronald (Betty) Beck, all of Grand Island, Mrs. Edwin (Minnie) Ramussen, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Nielsen, both of Omaha, Mrs. Ernest (Mabel) Burkhardt of Palmer, Mrs. Fred (Wanda) Rother of Wolbach, Mrs. Richard (Ruby) Henderson of Kinochle Air Base, Michigan, and Mrs. Robert (Opal) Oswald of Hollamon Air Base, New Mexico; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers, Fred of Clarks, Edward of Central City and Henry of Carthage, Missouri; and one sister, Mrs. George Verplank of Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
