Lydia M. Gruber, daughter of Fred and Minnie Freeland, was born September 5, 1896 in Nance County, near Fullerton, Nebr., and departed from this life March 11, 1959 at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 6 days in Carterville, Mo., while visiting relatives.
Mrs. Gruber spent nearly all of her life in this area. On July 21, 1924, Mrs. Gruber was married to Eugene Gruber, who preceded her in death by 13 days.
Mr. and Mrs. Gruber made their home on a farm north of Palmer until 1950, when he retired and they moved into Palmer.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She is survived by five brothers, Frank of Ceresco, Louie of St. Paul, Ed of Central City, Henry of Carthage, Mo., and Fred of Clarks; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Farlee of Wolbach, and Mrs. Ella Verplank of Palmer; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
