Mary Shirley Deems, of Wellsville, formerly of York, died January 11, 2012. She was the wife of the late William Robert Deems.

Born December 25, 1927, in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Dudley) Wisneski.

Mrs. Deems was a former employee in the Tax Collection Office of Spring Garden Township.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Christine Menges of Dillsburg and Carolyn Purvis of Wellsville; a son, James Deems of Dallastown; five grandchildren, Michael Rankin, Bill Rankin, Jon Menges, Matt Menges, and Denise Deems; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Evelyn Landers of Erie.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Kraft; a son, Donald Deems; a granddaughter, Katy Menges; a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Rankin; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Menges; and a brother, Robert Wisneski.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., January 17, 2012, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, York, with Pastor Dennis Hamsher officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
