Betty Jane Oswald of Blaine, Washington, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008. She was 72 years old. Betty was known as a generous and loving person. Betty was born to Axel and Hulda (Swanson) Anderson January 15, 1936. She had 5 sisters and one brother. Betty grew up in Bellingham, Washington, on Mason St. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1955 and went on to LPN training where she graduated in 1956. Betty and Leonard were married in 1957. They traveled across the country for many years during Leonard's naval career ending in Leonardtown, Maryland, where they lived for 17 years. She worked 3 years at the hospital in Milton, Florida, and 17 years in Leonardtown's St. Mary's Hospital, mostly in the new born nursery. They moved back to Washington in 1987 where she worked for a short period of time at the Bellingham Care Center. Betty then worked 12 years at Stafholt Good Samaritan until she retired in 2000.

Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her favorite place to be was at home. She loved fishing, crabbing, cruising, boat riding, and R-Ving, but especially loved her flowers and garden, putting in many years of work to benefit them. Betty will be greatly missed by Leonard, her husband of 51 years; her daughters, Vicki Matthews (Gary) and Elizabeth Lopez; sons, Robert Oswald and Kenneth Oswald; seven grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her sisters, Dolly (Anderson), Rudy and Donna (Anderson), and Taunton (Herman). She was preceded in death by her son William.

A Memorial Service will be held at Moles Greenacres Chapel, 5700 Northwest Dr, Ferndale, WA, on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 1:00 PM. Moles Greenacres Funeral Home, Memorial Park, & On-Site Crematory
