An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, August 1, 1974:

Floy G. Cooper, 67, retired State Schools for Boys employee, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home, 2507 Bridge Street.
...Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at Scott's Funeral Home chapel and will be conducted by Chaplain Howard Porter. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was born in Marlin June 16, 1907, but came to Gatesville as a young boy with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Cooper. He lived In Gatesville the rest of his life.
He married Miss Lola Chambers on Nov. 1, 1927. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Howard Cooper of Waco; three daughters, Mrs. J. W. (Lucille) Fair of Belton, Mrs. Dorothy Bankhead of Gatesville and Mrs. Joe (Belva) Boyd of Belton; three brothers, Willie Cooper of Killeen and Billy Cooper and Nathan Cooper, both of Gatesville; three sisters, Mrs. Reb Wittie of Gatesville, Mrs. Vera Townsend of Marshall and Mrs. S. L. Yeilding of Lubbock; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers for Mr. Cooper's funeral will be Mike Cooper, Keith Cooper, Jack Beasley, Loyd Ivy, W. K. Hill and Boney Jones.
