Donnie Ward Cooper, 53, a longtime resident of the Gatesville area, died Monday afternoon in the local hospital. Mr. Cooper had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Scott's Chapel, Rev. Earl Allen and Rev. Arthur Allen officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery.
A native of Falls County, Mr. Cooper spent practically all of his life in and around Gatesville.
He was married in 1924 to Miss Rosa Pearl Spicer, and she survives him.
Also surviving are one son, Raymon Cooper of Gatesville; two daughters, Mrs. Emil Shelburne of Gatesville and Mrs. Davis Meredith of Greenfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Cooper of Gatesville; four brothers, Willie Cooper of Killeen and Floy Cooper, N. J. Cooper and Nathan Cooper, all of Gatesville; and three sisters, Mrs. R. A. Wittie of Gatesville, Mrs. Charles Watson of Killeen and Mrs. S. L. Yeilding of Brownwood.
