Obituary by Martin-Dugger Funeral Home
Ruby Ellen Bogges, 97, was born on November 7, 1922, to Emily and Ruben (Bud) Dodson in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She was raised in Western Oklahoma and attended school at Herring Elementary, then went on to graduate from Cheyenne High School.

Ruby married Alfred Bogges on August 16, 1941, and the couple raised their five children on their farm outside of Cheyenne. In 1968 Alfred and Ruby moved to Ponca City to open a pizza parlor. Once the pizza parlor was up and running, they left it in the hands of their daughter and son in law and bought an acreage in Bethel, Oklahoma. After one more move to Elk City, Ruby finally settled in Moore, Oklahoma.

Ruby was a hard worker and held many jobs in her lifetime, but her favorite was raising and caring for her family, her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. When her family would visit, she always made sure they were fed; no one ever left Ruby’s house hungry.

She was self-taught in everything. Her skills included upholstering, sewing, gardening, canning, and quilting. Ruby was a master at shopping at the “goody” stores. She always managed to find the best bargains and treasures for the kids. Ruby was a faithful, active member of church wherever she lived and her love for the Lord showed in her words and actions.

In November of 2017, Ruby began her residency at Medical Park West in Norman, Oklahoma where she lived out the rest of her life. On October 25, 2020, she went home to be with the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 31, 2020 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Cherishing her memory are her children, Bill and Kathryn Bogges of Wayne, Oklahoma, Bob and Linda Bogges of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Don and Nancy Bogges of Moore, Oklahoma, Judy Jones of Moore, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Bogges; daughter, Marion Marshall; grandson, Marvin Jones Junior (JR); parents, Bud and Emily Dodson; siblings, Buster, Frank, Sarah Faye, and Sam.
