Area Deaths

Sarah Faye Kirk

A Prayer Vigil for Faye Kirk will be Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel of Elk City. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. from the St. Matthew Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.

Sarah Faye Kirk was born August 16, 1928 at Maud to R. H. and Emily (Smith) Dodson and died Wednesday at the age of 77.

She graduated from Hammon High School and then received her teaching certificate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University of Weatherford. She was married to John Martin Kirk on August 23, 1947 at Canute.

Faye taught school at Herring and St. Joseph's before starting a 20 year career as a bookkeeper for Albert Bros. Distributing retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion and St. Matthew's Catholic Church of Elk City.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers; and one great granddaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Kirk and wife, Glenna of Cheyenne and Rick Kirk of Elk City; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Bogges of Moore; and one brother, Sam Dodson of Hammon.
