He married Germain Pfannenstiel April 30, 1928 in Hyacinth. She died Nov. 13, 1938. He then married Josephine Befort Aug. 19, 1941 in Hyacinth.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors: wife, Josephine; sons, Edward of Hays, Leonard of Pottsboro, Texas, Jerry of Dodge City; daughter, Mildred Dinges of Thornton, Colo., Norma Jean Ruder of Liberal; brother, Aloysius of Hays; sisters, Susan Bathaur of Eastlake, Colo., Pauline Bollig of Council Bluff, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Pfeifer.
