Aloysius A. Pfeifer, 89, Hays Good Samaritan Center, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at the nursing home. He was born Feb. 13, 1912 in Hyacinth to Andrew and Barbara (Kuhn) Pfeifer.

He married Katherine Horning on May 7, 1935 in Hyacinth. She died Nov. 4, 1983.

He was a retired farmer and oil field worker, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors include two sons, Verlin, Hill City, and Patrick, Mansfield, Penn.; five daughters, Lillian Pfeifer, Hays, Shirley Schmidt, Catherine, Mary Vogt, Chicago, Sheila Thompson, Westwood, and Rebecca Tolemy, Woodale, Ill.; a sister, Pauline Bollig, Council Bluffs, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Chuch, Hays, with Father Mike Scully officiating; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. There will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Hays Good Samaritan Center or for Masses.
