Born June 28, 1898, in Bald Hill, he was the son of William and Fanny (Stewart) Hurley.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield, he was a head farmer for 18 years at the former Clear Haven Home before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, the former Claire Hubler, whom he married Dec. 5, 1920; five children, Blair S. Hurley and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Butler, both of Mt. Zion, Clearfield R.D., Mrs. Joanna Struck of Lock Haven, Mrs. Marjorie Thomas of Willingboro, N.J., and Daniel P. Hurley of Pine Grove; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one brother and one sister, Mrs. Mary Maguire of Morrisdale R.D. and John M. Hurley of State College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Mary Sunderland, two brothers and one sister.
