Born July 6, 1921, in Graham Township, he was a son of the late Patrick and Clair Hubler Hurley.
He was raised and educated in Pennsylvania, and graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1941.
He entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 4, 1942, and served until Jan. 18, 1946. Following his discharge he returned to Pennlylvania. He drove truck for Brown Brothers and later for Sky Haven Coal Company, from which he retired in 1984.
On April 3, 1955, he married the former Virginia Rowles in Wyomissing.
The couple moved to Hamilton, Mont., in 1988 to be near family.
Mr. Hurley was a member of the Clearfield V.F.W., the American Legion, and a life member of Clearfield Fire Company No. 2.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamilton, Mont., and the following step-children: Lee Rowles of Hamilton, Mont.; George Rowles of Fort Worth, Texas; Marion McCombs of Mansfield, Texas; and Louise Barrett of Hamilton, Mont.
In addition, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Joanna Strunk, Avis; Jean Butler, Clearfield; Marjorie Thomas, Laurel, N.J.; and Daniel Hurley of Pine Grove.
Also, he is survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Sunderlin.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Gordon Read officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation for friends and family will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
The family suggest memorials to: Marcus Daly-Hospice of Bitterroot, Hamilton, Mont., or a charity of the donor's choice.
