Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Parson Mortuary by the Rev. Virgil Brown. Burial will be in Yorktown Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Sunday.
Mr. Hartley was said to have just unhooked a trailer from his tractor truck in Richmond when he became ill. A resident here his entire life, he worked for the Tarbet Trucking Company for six years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Alaska, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters adn Chauffeurs Union, Local 369.
Surviving are his widow, Edith; two sons, Douglas and Gerald Jr.; two daughters, Marcia and Kathy, all of Muncie; his brother, Walter of Yorktown; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Coburn and Mrs. Marjory Spratt, and his grandmother, Mrs. Etta Hartley, all of Muncie.
