MARK
Jerry Eugene Mark, son of Vernon and Catherine Hughes Mark, was born on January 23, 1937, in Peoria, Ill., and passed from this life on February 5, 1975, as a result of a semi tractor-trailer accident near Ann Arbor, Mich., at the age of 38 years and 13 days.
Jerry's younger life was spent in and around the Lucas, Iowa vicinity, attending schools in Lucas where he graduated from high school in 1955.
He was united in marriage to Lettie Gwinn and to this union two children were born. He was later married to Margaret Tiffany on May 16, 1974, in Des Moines, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Des Moines; his two children, Kenny and Connie Mark, both of Chariton; his parents, Vernon and Catherine Mark of New Virginia; two brothers, Darrell Mark of Des Moines and Frank Mark of Chariton; one sister, Janet Mark of New Virginia; two step-sons, Robert and John Fees, both serving with the U.S. Navy; and two step-grandchildren, Angela and Charity Fees; many other relatives and friends.
Jerry worked at the Maytag Company in Newton for ten years before becoming engaged in the trucking business, later operating his own truck-tractor unit. He was under lease to Central States Express of Ankeny at the time of his death. He loved his profession and took great pride in his truck.
He was a friend to all, especially his fellow truckers, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder Wayne Kent of Columbia, Mo., at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 1975, at the Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
