Darrell Mark, 74, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11 at Brooks South Town Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Darrell was born September 5, 1938 in Perry, IA, to Vernon and Catherine Mark. He graduated from Lucas High School in 1956 and attended American Institute of Business. Darrell was employed with Yellow Freight for over 45 years and was very proud of his work that he did there. He was a member of Sovereign Grace Church and enjoyed watching sports, listening to country music, traveling and bowling as well as many other activities. Darrell will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Darrell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bert; sons, Robert (Dianne) Mark of Aledo, TX and Randall (Patti) Mark of Boyd, TX; grandchildren, Sgt. Patricia Mark who is stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, Jeremy Mark of Euless, TX, Katherine Mark of Boyd, TX, and sister, Janet Haywood of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Mark; grandson, Jacob Lee Mark; parents and brothers, Jerry and Frank.
