Son of Ray L. Mossburg who resided in Warren, Indiana.

Louis served as a Second Lieutenant & Navigator on B-24J #42-110139, 23rd Bomber Squadron, 5th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Huntington County, Indiana prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on February 3, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

B-24J #42-110139 took off Los Negros, Admiralty Islands on a shipping strike mission off of Yap Island. They were hit in the No. 4 engine by anti-aircraft fire and were also attacked by Japanese Zeros. They crashed into the sea with a loss of the entire crew.

Louis was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
