Funeral services for Cecil Bevans were held in the Providence Baptist church Thursday, October 3, with the Rev. Emery Adams, assisted by the Rev. Bual Bales, officiating. Music was furnished by W. E. Dorris, with Mrs. Neil Ford accompaning. Pall bearers were Junior Bronestine, Winston Little, Norman Merrell, James Martin, Robert Bailey, Jack Rolfe. Flower bearers were Dell Bronestine, Nellie Little, Mary Merrell, Erma Dee Martin, Mildred Bailey, Jewell Rolfe, LaVerne Bevans, Pat Fleer, Maurita Munslinger and Eloise Penn. Burial was in the Providence cemetery. Mr. Bevans died in Research hospital in Kansas City on October 1. Cecil J. Bevans, the son of Ab and Linnie Glisan Bevans, was born near Williamstown on June 28, 1915. He was united in marriage to LaVeta Clifton on June 14, 1941. Mr. Beavns was a prominent farmer. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; his parents; a brother, Robert J. Bevans of Barry, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Luch Walker of Williamstown, Mrs. John Tompkins of North Kansas City, Miss Hazel Bevans, of St. Louis, and Mrs. James Burke of Dumas, Texas; a nephew, Larry Tompkins of Kansas City; a niece, Tera Lynn Burke of Dumas, Texas; and other relatives.
