Robert Jennings Bevans, 87, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill. He was born October 10, 1917, near Williamstown, Mo., the son of Abe and Linnie Glisan Bevans. He married Helen Rose McWilliams, December 24, 1942, in LaBelle, Mo. Mr. Bevans graduated from Williamstown High School in 1935, and attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. He became a member of Providence Baptist Church near Williamstown at an early age. He was a retired banker, business man, and motel owner and operator. He had been a member of the Canton and Palmyra Kiwanis Clubs, which he had served as Lt. Governor. Survivors include three sisters, Ola F. English, Canton, Mo., Ella Tompkins, Winfield, Mo., and Hazel Bevans, Winfield, Mo.; one niece, Tara Burke Leas and husband Dr. Tom Leas, San Antonio, Tex.; two great nieces, Alyson and Ashleigh; one great nephew, Jonathon; one sister-in-law LaVeta Bevans Stith, Williamstown, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, Cecil Bevans; and one sister, Mabel Lynn Burke. Visitation was Saturday, January 1, 2005, at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral services were Sunday, January 2, 2005, at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Mo., with Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Providence Cemetery near Williamstown, Mo. Pallbearers were Brian Munzlinger, Eddie Blumke, Kent Munzlinger, Denton Stith, Brad Davis and Jerry Davis. Memorials may be made to Providence Cemetery near Williamstown, Mo.
