Funeral services for Mrs. Lynn Burke, 57, of Dumas Texas, were held Thursday, April 23, in the First Baptist Church of Dumas. Mrs. Burke, a resident of Dumas since 1954, died Monday, April 20 at Memorial Hospital in Dumas. Born in Lewis County, Mo., Mrs. Burke was on the staff of First State Bank in Dumas as assistant vice president. She was a real estate loan officer and compliance officer, when illness forced her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, secretary of the adult II department, and served on the planning and decorating committee when the church began a building program. She was an organizing officer and director of the women's division of the Moore County and Dumas Chamber of Commerce, and belonged to the National Association of Bankwomen and Dumas Board of Realtors. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, and belonged to the Gamma Xi chapter in Dumas. Survivors are her husband, Jim Burke; a daughter, Tara Leas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother, Mrs. Abe Bevans of Edna; a brother, Robert Bevans of Palmyra; three sisters, Ola English of Williamstown, Ella Topkins of Colorado Springs, and Hazel Bevans of St. Louis, and three grandchildren. Rev. Edward Rogers, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dumas, officiated at the services and burial was in Northlawn Memorial Gardens here.
