Most of his life was spent in farming around Burr Oak and Guide Rock, except two years that were spent at Ericson, Nebraska, and for a time in the Red Cloud community.
He was united in marriage to Anna Schnittker on January 21, 1912, at Nelson, Nebraska. They had the pleasure of spending sixty years of marriage together on January 21, 1973.
Three sons and four daughters were born to this union, all of whom survive.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse of Omaha; Clifford of Pomona, Kansas; Robert of Tehama, California; and the four daughters, (Freda) Mrs Leland Drake of Hastings; (Mildred) Mrs Lawrence Schamp of Inavale; (Cleo) Mrs Frank Carrie of Warren Michigan; (Ruby) Mrs John Duncan of Overland Park, Kansas.
Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one brother, Art Kiehl, of Mankato, Kansas.
Louie was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter, Ellen Drake Peterson. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral services was held at the Simonson Funeral Home in Red Cloud on Friday, January 4, 1974 at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon. Rev. Earl Hess officiated.
Interment was made in Guide Rock cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Ohmstede, Loy Robb, R A Norman, George Sholtz, Albert Payne and Bob Lewis.
